In the story “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant" there are some conflicts. The boy, the main character, takes a girl named Sheila to a concert in a canoe. When Sheila sees a fish she says she hates them and fishing, then the boy remembered he had a fishing line in the river. He caught a very huge bass and doesn't want to pull it in because Sheila doesn't like fish and doesn't want to be embarrassed.
